Home Renos: Day 2

Did more painting, and got the small bit above the “liquor cabinet overhand” in the dining area painted too.

That is all.

Renovations for selling: Day 1

No Gravatar

Well, day one of our home renos is over.

We were able to replace all of the handles on our kitchen cabinets with much nicer, simpler “brushed metal” ones.  We actually tried to buy enough for both the kitchen and the bathroom, but wound up two short due to me miscounting our cupboards (forgot about the two between the fridge and the stove).  They look much nicer than the old ones… they make the kitchen look a little more up-to-date without the extra cost of resurfacing/replacing our cabinetry.

We also were able to put the first coat of paint up on our two main living room walls, and the walls in the entranceway.  It looks much nicer; it’s a bit of a pale beige, much more neutral than our previous colour, which actually looks incredibly pink next to this new colour.

It wasn’t as much awful work as I though (I loathe painting) and the rest of the living room shouldn’t be too difficult.  If I can borrow a camera, I’ll take some pictures of both the cabinet handles and the living room walls when they’re finished (my camera decided it didn’t want to turn on at all anymore, can’t afford a new one right now).

Filled my Beyond the Sands influence

No Gravatar

Last night, after the kids were in bed, Lisa and I hopped online to try to get some more influence for the Beyond the Sands live event.  The past few nights, it’s been hit and miss what with Destruction effectively camping the live event areas (PQ, quest, etc) having enough people to not let Order get anything done at all.  Last night was different; we logged in to find that the guild Gaiscioch was running not one, not two, but almost three warbands in Marshes of Madness for the purpose of getting peoples live event tasks done!  Joining up with them, we were not only able to get some good RvR fighting in, but we also were able to help kill the Liche Priest. Liche_Priest.jpg I was able to kill the skeletons required, and finish up a quest and progress on another.  Lisa wasn’t so successful with the skeletons or quest progression, but she got some influence too.

Baelgur_Aviator_Goggles.jpg My BtS influence is now filled, but I’m still two quests short of the final title reward.  Not that I’m completely concerned about it, since all I wanted was the Aviator Goggles, which I now have!

I’m hoping that we can get some more done in our spare time this weekend so Lisa can fill up her influence, as I would feel badly if she didn’t get the rewards too.

LEGO Rock Band? Yes!

I just found out that LEGO Rock Band is going to be released for the 2009 holiday season.

Personally, I’m a bit excited about it.  I just don’t know if I should tell the kids yet. *evil grin*

A disturbing trend in Warhammer

No Gravatar

Lately I’ve noticed a really disturbing trend when playing Warhammer (this is on the side of Order on Phoenix Throne); the penchant that other players have for running away from a good fight at any given time.

Last night, Lisa and I were out in Marshes of Madness looking to finish up the live event quest Chapter 1: The Trail of Bones, as well as make some headway on the second day’s live event tasks.  Destruction was out in full force, basically camping the live event area, which led to some seriously large fights that carried both sides (probably a warband and a half of Order players, and a warband and a half to two warbands of Destruction) back and forth from each others warcamps, through the middle of the RvR lake.  It was crazy, and I filled up almost 2/3 of an RvR influence bar from this alone (just 41 short of the final reward now) even with diminishing returns kicking in.  However, as the night went on people started saying how bored they were and how they’d rather go to another zone and take some empty keeps and battlefield objectives instead.  Grr…

I can understand if we were getting completely destroyed with no chance of winning at all, because there’s really no fun in that.  However, that wasn’t the case here.  While we were probably outnumbered, we were putting up a hell of a good fight and pushing as much as we got pushed.  The only real downside was that the majority of kills weren’t giving influence (until diminishing returns wore off individually) but we were still getting a good steady stream of renown.  Oh well, I won’t complain too much about it, but it just really sucks that every time a good actual fight breaks out in a game focused on killing other players, people want to leave and do something else.

I’m looking forward to playing some more… this live event is pretty fun (mostly because of the RvR that develops from it) and I would really like to get my new axe from Dwarf Tier 2.  I’ve posted a picture of Baelgur (my Slayer) and Lannerea (Lisa’s Archmage) in a new Warhammer album.
